"I have a profound amount of admiration for the men and women of law enforcement who work tirelessly to keep us safe. I’ve played numerous law enforcement roles over my career and each one has given me greater respect for these dedicated individuals.
But unlike them, when we’re done shooting a scene, I go home. Unfortunately, every 56 hours a law enforcement officer doesn’t make it home.
The Law Enforcement Ride & Run to Remember is my chance to say thank you and support them in return. Help me celebrate their service and sacrifice by making a donation today."

'BPAC hosts conversation with actor Vincent D’Onofrio'

Article by Robert Cambria - April 15th, 2013
“I don’t think of myself as a stage actor. I am a film actor,” said Vincent D’Onofrio during the Screen Actors Guild Foundation Conversation series at Baruch College’s Engelman Recital Hall on a wet April 10 evening, to a sell-out audience.
Moderator Richard Ridge of BroadwayWorld.com had an easy manner of questioning that brought out the boyish quality that has made D’Onofrio an actor’s actor.
At 53, with cropped Brillo-like hair, a hint of stubble on his face and dressed in a well-tailored black suit and a white shirt, D’Onofrio’s six-foot-two, (6'4") large-boned frame is a reminder of the days when he was a bouncer at Studio 54, the Ritz and Hard Rock Cafe.
At times he worked as a bodyguard to Yul Brynner and Dan Ackroyd.
Appearances notwithstanding, the Brooklyn-born actor retains a boyish charm, which the long reach of the Soviet director Stanislavski’s influence has nurtured and continues to sustain during D’Onofrio’s 30-year career.
D’Onofrio is nothing but a man driven by acting. He feels comfortable before the camera and, on stage, too, and more importantly he has easy relationships with other actors.
Acting is a defining moment, yet he has come to realize things about his performance and his character of which he had not been completely conscious.
“Regardless of his own will he lives the part…not thinking of his own accord, subconsciously and intuitively,” wrote Stanislavski in the bible of method actors, An Actor Prepares.
“Regardless of his own will he lives the part…not thinking of his own accord, subconsciously and intuitively,” wrote Stanislavski in the bible of method actors, An Actor Prepares.
“There is a warmth between legitimate [committee] actors,” D’Onofrio regarded with a broad smile. “I accept them as friend and peer.”
Still, acting is like a fine-grained whetstone on which to give a keen edge.
D’Onofrio’s filmography is long and impressive. From his spectacular breakout role in Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket in 1987 to Mystic Pizza, he has taken on the appearance of a chameleon, taking on the color and character of the role.
D’Onofrio’s filmography is long and impressive. From his spectacular breakout role in Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket in 1987 to Mystic Pizza, he has taken on the appearance of a chameleon, taking on the color and character of the role.
Even today the muses of acting have a powerful hold on him. For 2013 and 2014 he has six films in pre-production.
D’Onofrio turned down a part in The Sopranos, yet, he is not afraid of being ethnically typecast. On the other hand, he is best known as Detective Robert Goren in Dick Wolf’s Law and Order: Criminal Intent.
He amusingly described how he grew into his role during the series, 10 years on TV with worldwide syndication. Squid-like, he molded Goren’s quirks to heighten the drama of this crime series.
His pauses, his daring techniques of nailing the criminal, his Sherlock Holmes narcissism, his egocentricity and arrogance brought a fever-pitch tension to Goren, which won him and his character a huge following.
Nonetheless, the pull of the theater and the call of his buddy, the talented actor-director Ethan Hawke brought him back to the boards of off-Broadway.
“I would do anything for Ethan,” D’Onofrio admitted.
“I would do anything for Ethan,” D’Onofrio admitted.
In a revival of Brecht’s heavy-handed Baal, D’Onofrio won critical acclaim, as he did in Hawke’s stage of Jonathan Marc Sherman’s Clive.
His disclaimer that he is simply a film actor notwithstanding, be it on TV, on the “silver screen” or Broadway, proves otherwise.
But there is another side of D’Onofrio. In his own way, he is a Renaissance man. He is a producer, a director, he sings and dances and can use his talent even as a magician and juggler, if they are called on.
D’Onofrio is a man driven by his own demons, so much so he had to take a leave from Law and Order owing to an exhausting work schedule.
Nowadays, he works as hard as ever, but manages his energies better. His daughter is a student at the The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, and he makes sure that he has more than enough time for his 13-year-old and 5-year-old sons.
Charming, urbane, witty, he is hardly midway in his multifaceted career.

Kathryn Erbe slated for SVU return...
TVLINE
When Law & Order: SVU‘s Fin finds himself in danger this May, an old friend will be around to lend a hand.
Kathryn Erbe‘s Alexandra Eames will make her second appearance of the season in the May 8 episode, executive producer Warren Leight tells TVLine exclusively.
RELATED | Law & Order: SVU Casts Eion Bailey
The Law & Order: Criminal Intent mainstay will show up when someone related to Fin’s past as a narcotics officer begins causing trouble for the SVU detective . What happens is “so big, she’s called in,” Leights says, adding that the idea for the episode originated with its star Ice T.
“He said, ‘I saw after that Rollins-and-her-sister episode, the fans really like it when we’re in harm’s way,” the EP recalls. “‘And don’t forget, I used to be a narcotics officer. There’s got to be a lot of people who want me dead.’”
Hip-hop artist 2 Chainz also appears in the episode as “someone Fin dealt with in the past,” Leight says. “There’s a lot of bad blood from Fin’s past involved in it.”
Emilio Rivera (Sons of Anarchy), Yul Vasquez (Magic City) and Cathy Moriarty (Raging Bull) also appear in the episode.

'The Tomb' renamed as 'Escape Plan' gets earlier release

That other New Orleans-set prison-break movie -- you know, the one that isn't a now-viral videoshot by inmates at Orleans Parish Prison -- has a new name and a new release date. "The Tomb," a thriller that Arnold Schwarzengger and Sylvester Stallone shot in New Orleans last year, is now titled "Escape Plan" and will land in theaters on Sept. 13, two weeks earlier than its original Sept. 27 date, according to EW.com.
Directed by Mikael Hafstrom ("1408," "The Rite"), the film sees Stallone playing a "structural security" expert who finds himself framed for a crime he didn't commit -- but sentenced to a prison that he designed. Schwarzenegger plays a hardened inmate at the prison, from which Stallone naturally sets out to escape. Co-stars include Jim Caviezel, Sam Neill, Vincent D'Onofrio and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson.

'Crackers' short with Vincent D'Onofrio screening at Garden State Film Festival this weekend
EXAMINER.COM
By Jennifer Principato
By Jennifer Principato
Wednesday, April 3 - The Garden State Film Festival in Asbury Park kicks off today and will run throughout the weekend to showcase independent films from New Jersey and around the world. Attending a film festival is a great way to catch thought provoking films, various off beat story lines, (unlike the predictable Hollywood films that are most often available to us at mega theaters), and a chance to get acquainted with otherwise unrecognized talent. Often, one leaves pleasantly surprised and will think about the films they saw days afterwards. If you can get over to Asbury Park try to view at least one of the many interesting Independent films being screened over the weekend.
I highly recommend seeing the award-winning New Jersey-made short film CRACKERS starring Vincent D’Onofrio (Law & Order Criminal Intent), Brenda Vaccaro (Midnight Cowboy), Dan Hedaya (Cheers), Sal Richards (Out for Justice), Anthony Laciura (Boardwalk Empire), Beth Ann Bonner (One Life to Live) and Vincent Mora.
The film is part of a shorts showcase and will be screening at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park on Saturday, April 6 at 8:15 pm. The short film, with a run time of 32 minutes, has been widely received throughout the country and been the recipient of six awards including The People’s Choice Award and Best Short Film at the Fort Myers Beach Film Festival, Best Short Comedy at The World Cinema Festival, Audience and Juried Award for Best Short at the Teaneck Film Festival and Special Jury Award at the San Diego Film Festival.
It is a dark comedy, about the unraveling of an otherwise content chef (Vincent D’Onofrio) who now finds himself out of work and having to share his home with his cantankerous mother in law (Brenda Vaccaro), and her nutcracker collection. It’s only until he turns to his oddball neighborhood friends, (Sal Richards and Anthony Laciura) for help when things get worse and he slowly loses his paradise, his sanity and all that is sacred to him.
The film was shot in South Amboy and made by New Jersey resident, and award–winning filmmaker, Gregory Principato, (Mr. Laughs –A Look Behind the Curtain – 2009), who has directed, produced and co-wrote, along with fellow Union county resident, Timothy Reinhardt. When asked how they came up with the story, Principato said the experience had been surreal. The story had been twirling around my head for years, and once I met Tim, a novelist, we decided to work together, our ideas just came together so quickly. It took us three weeks to write the full story. Some of the characters come from our personal experiences and upbringing, so the dialogue felt real, but I was particularly amazed about how smoothly the partnership between us evolved as we met weekly at our local Barnes and Noble to work on the story.” Although Gregory has directed projects before and Tim has other fictional works written, this was the team’s first attempt in writing a screenplay.
“There were times I was pacing, waving my hands and yelling out profanities as part of the dialogue, while Tim was sitting on the floor with his laptop plugged in to the wall in the back of the store by the restrooms. One time, there was this elderly woman on her way to the bathroom when she had caught us in mid-dialogue, with me yelling, 'Now Gus, feed the crazy old broad some kind of potent drug." I felt like a deer caught in the headlights when I turned around to see this sweet old woman staring at me. The look on her face was just priceless.” Principato explains. “If you have a warped sense of humor you will definitely enjoy the movie.”
If dark comedy is not your thing, there are many other films to choose from, go to www.gsff.orgor call (877) 908-7050 for more information and movie times.
