Linkin Park to compose soundtrack for upcoming 'Mall'

Ever since Linkin Park’s formation, we’ve been getting our dose of heavy rock rap music with every release of their albums. And with the latest album entitled Living Things just released last year, we’ll probably have enough Linkin Park music to get us past several months until their next one. According to the band, Living Things combines the elements from their previous albums to produce a new sound. Vocalist of the band Chester Bennington also states that the band has returned to more ‘familiar territory’ on their new record.

“Living Things” was chosen as the title because the record is now far more personal. You’ll get to know the band much better as you listen to the 12 tracks present in the album. It really makes a perfect soundtrack if you want fast-paced rapping plus heavy hitting rock music. I myself listen to Linkin Park songs during those long and lethargic days, or when I’m playing online RPGs or casino games on the internet. There are websites like partycasino.com where you can play fun games like Blackjack, Roulette, Slots, and other table games you can find in the casinos. You can also download their software if you want to play all casino games the website has to offer. And with Linkin Park songs on your playlist, getting pumped up while playing games can really be one heck of a thrill. Now you don’t have to travel far to casinos just to satisfy your gambling needs.

After the album, the band is currently working on the soundtrack of a film entitled “Mall,” directed by their DJ, Joe Hahn. The film is about a group of people trapped in a mall during a shooting incident. It’s also an adaptation of the 2001 novel of the same name by Eric Bogosian, and it will star Vincent D’Onofrio and Chelsea Handler.

Gina Gershon replaces Chelsea Handler in 'Mall'

VARIETY

By JEFF SNEIDER

Linkin Park member Joe Hahn continues to fill out the cast of his feature directorial debut "Mall," as Gina Gershon ("Killer Joe") and Peter Stormare ("Fargo") have stepped in to replace Chelsea Handler and Eric Bogosian (the latter wrote the 2001 novel on which the indie film is based). Duo's scheduling issues forced them to bow out of the pic, which has already started filming.

James Frecheville ("Animal Kingdom"), Cameron Monaghan ("Shameless"), Gbenga Akinnagbe ("The Wire"), India Menuez ("Something in the Air") and Mimi Rogers ("Austin Powers") have also joined the ensemble, led by Vincent D'Onofrio.

Bogosian's debut novel follows five suburban strangers whose paths cross over the course of one hellish night at a shopping mall, where a drug-addled madman (Frecheville) goes on a shooting spree.

Monaghan will play a teen stoner, while Menuez will play the object of his affection. Gershon will play a randy housewife who catches the eye of a voyeuristic businessman (D'Onofrio). Akinnagbe will play the mall security guard tasked with stopping the shooter, whose mother and former boss will be played by Rogers and Stormare, respectively.

D'Onofrio is producing "Mall" with Sam Maydew, whose company the Collective reps D'Onofrio, Stormare, Rogers, rising thesp Menuez and Linkin Park. D'Onofrio also adapted the script with Joe Vinciguerra and Sam Bisbee.

Epic Pictures will be handling foreign sales at Cannes, and they'll have an additional selling point as Linkin Park has agreed to handle the soundtrack for the violent film, which will be exec produced by Bill Boyd and Rob Cavallo, chairman of Warner Bros. Records. Cavallo is responsible for some of the bestselling soundtracks of all time, and the "Mall" soundtrack will fall under Linkin Park's record deal with Warners.

Gershon is repped by Barking Dog Entertainment and attorney Stan Coleman. Stormare is repped by ICM, while Paradigm reps Rogers. Frecheville is repped by UTA, the Schiff Co. and attorney Harris Hartman. Monaghan is repped by Gersh, KLWGN Entertainment and attorney Chad Christopher. Akinnagbe is repped by Stone Manners Salners Agency, Evolution Entertainment and attorney Joel VanderKloot. Contact Jeff Sneider at jeff.sneider@variety.com

'Vincent D'Onofrio Heads For Mall Joining Joe Hahn's killing spree'

10 April 2012 | Written by Owen Williams | Source: Bloody Disgusting
EMPIRE

Last week the news emerged that Vincent D'Onofrio would be heading to jail as the deputy warden of Sylvester Stallone's impregnable prison The Tomb. Before that however, D'Onofrio is taking a detour round a Mall.

The 'dark drama' is being directed by Joe Hahn, who's better known at the moment as Linkin Park's DJ.

The premise is that a group of teenage mallrats have the peace of their emo-moping shattered when a disgruntled former employee of a tuxedo shop goes on a murderous rampage. He was, clearly, one step closer to the edge and about to break.

D'Onofrio's role hasn't been revealed so far. It's doubtful that he's one of the teens, obviously, but we've yet to learn if he's the gunman, or a mall official, or a cop, or a concerned parent, or another shopper caught up in the carnage, or a vigilante who crawls around the air ducts in a dirty vest to save the day. Does that cover all the possibilities? His co-stars currently include Cameron Monaghan, James Frecheville, India Menuez and Michael Kenneth Williams.

Linkin Park are doing the music, natch, and given his little acting sideline (he was in Saw 7 and both Cranks) don't be surprised if Chester Bennington also shows up on-screen. Shooting starts next week in LA.

I think we've already heard that Vincent was going to portray a voyeuristic businessman that watches women try on underwear at J.C. Penney's. However, I did notice that there is no mention of Chelsea Handler in the cast list. Hmmmm, maybe she is too busy roaming Rome with her boyfriend a la togas to be in the film? Also important to mention that the film is based from the book written by Eric Bogosian.  Here are photos I found of the above mentioned.

UPDATE

APRIL 10, 2012

Michael Kenneth Williams has signed on to star in The Collective’s MALL. Based on the Eric Bogosian novel, the film is about five suburbanites who are on a violent collision course with each other at a local mall. Williams will play a character named Michel. Vincent D’Onofrio is also set to star and produce. Cameron Monaghan, James Frecheville, and India Muenez have also joined the cast. Chelsea Handler was previous attached but has since left the project.

Joe Hahn is directing a script written by D’Onofrio, Joe Vinciguerra, and Sam Bisbee.

Sam Maydew is also producing. Williams, while currently featured in “Boardwalk Empire” and “Community,” is best known for playing Omar on HBO’s “The Wire.”

He is repped by The Collective and Sekka Scher Management. The Tracking Board Team.
