About a homicide detective tracking a serial killer along the Mississippi River who burns his victims. Now who plays the detective and who plays the killer, does anyone know?

Tim Roth is playing the detective. Cedric is playing the coroner. They haven't said what Vincent is playing...I have a pretty good idea...

Mass murder along the Mississippi. You know that means--VDO will be dead by the end credits.

I have a pretty good idea as well, thanks for the info.

Just saw that Al Freeman Jr. passed away at age 78. RIP one of my favorite actors from the 60s and 70s. Although even I can do a 6 degrees of separation of Al Freeman Jr and VDO.

If they just cast Gary Oldman in this movie, the holy trinity of the best chameleon character actors would be complete.

If he's playing the role of the murderer that's going to be a tough one. The girls are burned and thrown into the Mississippi River...can't be easy to play that. Interesting choice with Cedric, hmmmm. vikeau, I didn't hear that news...they are leaving us by the busloads lately, huh? maculae, LOL, I got a chuckle out of that one and so true.

I've heard that bad guys are more interesting or more fun for an actor to play or that the parts are better written. That may be. Vincent may end up being typecast as a bad guy. I wouldn't prefer it, but I wouldn't mind it; he gives so many layers to his characters that he is always interesting to watch. But please, not another serial killer - at least not so soon!

Not sure about the typecast thing, but after playing a cop for so long he is probably welcoming the change. By the way, watched him in Staten Island this a.m., very interesting protrayal of a mob boss, somewhat of a funny movie and a bit gory too. He's just good in everything he undertakes.

Gary Oldman was approached to be in the movie. He and Tim Roth are old mates. It is possible he may find his way into the movie upon production. D'Onofrio does not play a cop or a killer in A Fall From Grace. He plays Grace's father. Rumor has it teen megastar Chloe Grace Moretz is considering the title role of Grace.

That is nice to hear that he's going to be somebody's Dad. He was really good in "The Narrows"

Holy crap, they actually approached Oldman? I love his bromance with Tim Roth (Rosencrantz and Guildenstern is one of my all time favorite movies...saw it in AP Lit in high school), they used to write messages on themselves to each other. I know Robocop starts shooting this fall (which is when they wanted to start main production of this movie), so it might not be possible for Oldman to come on. But if he did, holy crap.

D'Onofrio isn't playing a killer? Color me surprised.

This is a teaser trailer for a Fall From Grace:

It's narrated by Bill Pullman, lead actor from Surveillance, another Lynch film. Would not be surprised if he ended up in this film

Here's an interview with Lynch and Wilkinson (writer) about A Fall From Grace referencing the Oldman situation:

"The detective has a brother who’s an important character, and Jennifer originally wrote this draft with Tim Roth and Gary Oldman in mind, as brothers. There’s still a possibility Oldman many come to St. Louis to play the part. Oldman and Roth are old friends."

Sorry for posting 2x in a row.

This sounds like it's gonna be good!

A lot of range between a serial killer and a (good) cop. ;oD

If Missouri has funds available for the tax breaks, and the production team has already decided they want to shoot in St. Louis, what would stop them? "Bring it!"

Thank you, Anonymous for the additional information. I really appreciate you commenting the extra details on my site. Thanks for all the info too, maculae. I had already gathered up all I could find about the film. Getting Oldman would sweeten the cast and now it looks like they are in talks with Darryl Hannah. Debra, I think they are going to find the funds through fundraising or some other avenue according to the latest article. sullie, you're right, he can play any role but glad to see it's going to be something lighter than Bob.

sullie said...

how many Bob's has he played anyway? :) I would love to see Bill Pullman again, miss seeing him. It would be great if he was cast more than narration.

Bill pullman did an experimental or avante garde (really don't know how to classify it)play here in Baltimore a couple of years ago. It was really good and he was incrediably gracious with his time and expertise. Up to that point I had only remembered him from light romantic comedies and was really thrilled at the depth of his committment to live theather and community.

As to how may Bobs VDO has played I really don't think all that many. I think Carl from the Cell would be the closest.

Nantz said...

I count four Bob's so far...Robert Goren, Robert Howard, Bob in 'Chained' and Bobby in 'Brooklyn's Finest' although his name 'Carlos' is used.

vikeau said...

Duh, sullie you meant characters that were actually named Bob--I thought you meant characters that were close in personailty to Bob. I guess I still have that wacked review in my head where the reviewer compares the Bob character to the Pyle character. Nantz you're a savant. Double duh.

Nantz said...

vikeau, not to worry. I think Vincent has actually portrayed more mob-related characters over serial killers and the like.

sullie said...

Sorry bout any confusion related to "Bob's", I meant the character names. Just find it interesting he gets to play so many Bobs. His portrayal of Parmie in Staten Island reminds me of Elliot Gould's character in Ocean's 11.

Nantz said...

That's one film I have never seen but I get your Elliot Gould reference.
