'Six Degrees of Vincent D'Onofrio'...Robin Gibb...

WIKIPEDIA

Robin Hugh Gibb was born on December 22, 1949 along with his twin brother, Maurice in Manchester, England. There were also two other brothers, Barry and Andy, and a sister. He is most noted as being a singer and songwriter along with his brothers Maurice and Barry as the 'Bee Gees'. Their career started early in England where they performed in local theatres until the family moved to Brisbane, Australia in 1958 and eventually returning to England in 1967. Robin was mainly the lead singer of the group but traded off with his brother Barry in what was a constant jockeying for the central spot. In 1968, Robin married his first wife, Molly, who was a secretary in the Robert Stigwood organization. The two survived the Hither Green rail crash that killed 49 people on November 5, 1967. Despite many notable songs written and performed by the Bee Gees; they are most famous for their collaboration of songs included in the 'Saturday Night Fever' movie. At the time they had no idea they were writing a soundtrack for the movie with its album becoming one of the top sellers of all time. In 1988, Robin's younger brother, Andy Gibb passed away from a cocaine overdose at the age of 30 at the height of a successful solo career. In 2003, his twin brother, Maurice passed away from complications of a twisted bowel that Robin also suffered from. While performing in Belgium, Robin experienced stomach pains and was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery for a blocked intestine in August of 2010 and again in October of 2011. One month later, it was announced that Robin was battling colon cancer that had traveled to his liver. Just this past March, word came that Robin was in remission from his cancer but by the end of the month he was hospitalized yet again. Sadly, yesterday brought the news that Robin was in a coma 'fighting for his life' after developing pneumonia. His brother, Barry and his family are holding vigil at his side. Thoughts and prayers go out to the Gibb family who have had more than their share of tragedy. Find the connection using th film 'Saturday Night Fever'!

Incrediably sad news about Robin. Positivie thoughts and energy for a full recovery. As for the connection, once again I'm at a loss and will leave it to the experts.

I Started A Joke 1968, love that song, interesting mix of songs over the years, and much missed. Positive thoughts for the family, they have certainly been through enough tragedy.

Not to be offensive because of what Robin is enduring right now and the lyrics of the song. It is about social alienation, or perhaps the devil, I know what it means to me, and thank Robin and the Bee Gees for their awesome music, and for what I Started A Joke has meant to me.

I believe the connection is Fran Drescher, who played Connie in "Saturday Night Fever" and also played Elaine Dockerty in the ep. "The War at Home".

Feel terribly sorry for Robin and his family. I love the BeeGees...

John Travolta and Vincent both raise donations for the Heroes Health Project.

I don't even remember Fran Drescher in the film, LOL.

She was an unknown actress then, but when she became well known as "The Nanny", she often pointed out that she was the girl who cajoles John Travolta to dance with her at the disco.

That's so funny, Sally, I have no recollection of her in that movie.

Neither did anyone else, Nantz! lol
But she made sure to show the clip as an early claim to fame. She was basically an extra- but she does go over to JT and beg him, til he finally says ok- and dances with her.
