Latest news for 'Blue Tilt'...

Sad news. NBC has unofficially put Blue Tilt on the shelf for now. The powers that be don't think it has enough "Pop" to attract viewers.

Thanks to Hannah for alerting me to this.  Really sad.

I had a bad feeling this was going to happen, but maybe another network might want to do this show, who knows?

Oh COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!! That's SO not true!!! With all the garbage and crap that passes for TV entertainment, a quality show like this gets shelved? Probably in favour of another stupid reality or talent show.

vikeau said...

Ah pooh. But at least we have some theatrical releases to look forward too.

Sally said...

I was really afraid of that!
I agree with JoJo, and in the words of former FCC Chairman Newton Minnow, "TV is a vast wasteland".
And an even vaster wasteland w/o the quality that Vincent would bring to a series like Blue Tilt.
He has more than enough POP for me!!
I'm MAD!!!!

This creates an opportunity for Vincent to join Kate to continue with the resurection of Dick Wolf's L & O franchise, ie More Law and Order Criminal Intent! If not, I think Vincent is going to hit it big and soon with the nicely diversified amount of work that he has/is releasing as of late. And, since he has lost weight and is in better shape, he has the opportunity tobe discovered by a whole new generation.

TPTB are just...

...so typical, but to be honest I expected something like this after all the silence about this project.

I'm not surprised at all. Vincent and his sisters are getting a bit big for their boots and as for writing, well the rubbish that Dont Go Into Woods was I don't blame MBC. for not wanting it.

Rose said...

NBC not MBC. And I really don't know why the weight of someone has to do with anything, people can be creative whether thin, normal weight, or overweight, and with that said, Vincent has always, at least to me took diversified roles. And I'm sure there will be more reality shows, music/talent shows, because well, that seems to be the hits, why, I will never no.

Rose, the comments about Vincent's appearance on Twitter are the most vicious and uncalled for. Really don't understand how it is helpful to bash ANYONE in such a public way. Anonymous, not sure what your thought process is with your comments about Vincent, Toni and Elizabeth. I would think Vincent would like to realize the full potential of his career which goes to show you that the little time he has left he supports various charities. Same with Toni; she manages, runs and works at her restaurant with only Sunday as a day off. With her 'spare' time she devotes to various charities and events that I don't think a person half her age could handle with all the hours she puts in. And Elizabeth is keeping the arts alive in her community by engaging many of us who would not have opportunities to view films from all over the world. She is an acting teacher, has her own business and is very active in her community. I wonder if they did any less if you would instead call them lazy?

Rose said...

Certainly three people who aren't lazy, next to me I look like I don't do a thing all day long, seriously I do, but one wouldn't know it. There is so much bashing, twitter not really sure of, but can imagine, how people can make such horrific remarks about people, people they don't even know, just in their heads they think they know the person. I don't know how celebrities take it, glad I'm nobody, couldn't take that scrutiny.

Nantz said...

We need to build each other up rather than shoot each other down.

Rose said...

True Nantz, but unfortunately since I read comments on several news sites, and shake my head in disbelief way too much, I don't ever see that happening. Think I'd be a much happier person if I threw our computers, TV's and reading materials out the window, as they say ignorance is bliss.

vikeau said...

Nantz, Rose-- I so agree. Clearly, Vincent's weight has no correlation to his popularity much less his talent. It's no secret that over the years VDO's weight has flucutated but he has always been able to incorporate what ever size he has been as a part of his character portrayal. As for the dig at getting too big "for one's boots"-I'm just mystified.

Nantz said...

Sounds like someone who might have low self esteem and feels the need to hide in anonymity because of it.

sullie said...

I totally agree, weight has no issue with someone's ability to entertain and work. I find him even better on loci as he has aged, just like the rest of us, it's character that shines through. People need to back off the visual and stop judging. Oh and I am new to follow this blog, nice to meet everyone.

I am in the arts myself and yes he is a good actor...I'm afraid his sister could'nt act herself out of a paper bag.
Granted they do good works, by the way I never said they where lazy, far from it but the word is they now think they are the 'acting profession'.
He must be careful because he's heading for a fall.

Rose said...

Nice to meet you Sullie. May I ask why you think, anonymous, that Vincent is heading for a fall, just curious. I have no arts ability nor do I know anyone who is in the arts.

toscler said...

Wow anonymous, tell us how you really feel...I too am curious about "heading for a fall". If Charlie Sheen can get a new show after his special kind of meltdown last year or if Kelsey Grammer can get a new show and a Golden Globe after his personal life exploded into the tabloids (only 2 out of a lot of other examples) what exactly did Vincent do to barrel downhill? I personally think he needs to do a few guest starring roles on shows before headlining his own show again if he wants to return to TV. But that's not exactly heading for a fall, that's just what actors do. Don't Go In The Woods and the writing of it has no bearing on whether or not a network picks up Blue Tilt. I've been beyond vocal here with how I hated the movie and listing every point that I hated about it in excruciating detail. But Vincent and his writing team were not head writers or show runners for Blue Tilt.

Also, I think you'd be hardpressed to say that Vincent isn't in the "acting profession". Even if Elizabeth isn't a star, what she does really does qualify her as being part of the "acting profession". I mean...if that's what your career revolves around. Just my two cents.

However, I can't say I'm upset about Blue Tilt being shelved. While I do think that a lot of shows on right now are terrible (and a lot of the shows that premiered the last season were terrible - Playboy Club? Charlies Angels?), it is headed towards somewhat of an upswing in broadcast TV for drama. Cable has been stellar for a bit now now (Boss [I may not like Grammer's personal issues, but holy crap, he can act], Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, The Killing [more for the acting than writing really...], Homeland, Boardwalk Empire, Justified etc...all truly amazing with great acting). Broadcast sitcoms have been great for a few seasons now (every broadcast network has at least one sitcom to bank on). I've read up on some of the greenlit drama shows coming up and they look good. Quite honestly from what I've seen written about Blue Tilt, it just didn't measure up. And there were some aspects of how they were approaching the show that didn't seem to work (won't go into it). Sure some of what might come may suck (Munsters remake? Beauty and the Beast on 2 networks??), but on paper a lot of it looks good.

Yes, my semester just finished yesterday. I'm back! :-)

I just fear it's the market. There's tons of "cop"-shows and "odd-cop" shows out there at the moment. Being fresh and new isn't that easy, even if something sounds good on a page.

Anonymous said...

Vincent's THE reason why there's all these "odd" cop shows on, anyway. what a douche bag, anon.

vikeau said...

Hey Sullie and welcome back maculae. Not sure what the sour grapes are about Anonymous, but the "I'm an insider and know what I'm talking about tone" to your post is presumputous and totally arrogant and I'm sure without a basis in reality. I generally try to be very tolerant of others opinions but in this case--you're so off base.

PS Nantz, love the side bar shout out to the Penguins. Although I hope the Steelers only wear the
80th annerversity(sic) uniforms once. Makes them look like bumble bees. LOL

Nantz said...

Welcome, sullie, and thank you for visiting my site. Please feel free to jump in anytime with your comments! And, welcome to maculae back from her studies! Missed you! vikeau, I laughed so hard when you mentioned the Steelers throw back uniforms and some people are referencing John Belushi in the 'Killer Bees' episode on SNL. I think they look like prisoner uniforms but will probably end up getting one, LOL. Last night's Pens' game was a nail biter but oh so good!

Nantz said...

Hannah, I have to agree with you about the cop shows...very difficult to come up with some new angle that will grab the audience's attention. If it wasn't for Bobby Goren's quirks and mannerisms it wouldn't have been as interesting.

Rose said...

Welcome back maculae, missed your insight. And let me add the new show coming, Veep, which looks like it will surely be a hit.

STOP THE MADNESS

When a male is jealous (obviously that is what anon is all about) there is only ONE BIG reason.

How pathetic is he.

Rose said...

Male or female when jealousy is the issue it gets ugly from both sexes, and imo it is worse when a female is jealous. Regardless, someone is bored and has nothing better to do then push people's buttons.

vikeau said...

Marian I think that would be a one big "small" reason.

TJara said...

Plus Nantz, there weren't as many cop shows back then...

CSI New York, Life, Lie to Me, Rizzoli & Isles, Without a Trace, Cold Case, Criminal Minds, NCIS, NCIS:LA, Bones, Body of Proof, The Mentalist, The Closer... all of these are younger than LOCI, as far as I know. Not all of these are on the air, still, BUT there have been newer ones which aren't on my radar yet cause we haven't gotten them here... really, the type of show might just be on the verge of being overused right now so Blue Tilt didn't really have a chance.

Rose said...

There are a lot of cop shows, this one has a twist dealing with two cops on the verge..for some of us that is interesting, while some people might find it boring, dealing with family and mental issues. Homeland and Shameless do a great job with Bipolar Disorder, and one of the things that I enjoyed watching on Law and Order SVU was Stabler, never knew if he was going to go off or not. For me he did a great job of being intense.

TJara said...

Oh, I'm sure it would've been interesting! Just saying that competition is pretty stiff right now.

sullie said...

Just wanted to give another note of "thanks" for the welcome. I usually read posts and don't get too involved, but I love this show (in reruns), I'm late to the party but am hooked on this show and VDO. OY!

Rose said...

TJara, I too think it would be interesting, I was hoping that maybe another network would pick it up, fingers crossed.

Unknown said...

I hope Vincent will take Blue Tilt to another network. I like the proposed concept of the show and it'd be great to see Vincent and Ethan on TV on a regular basis. Also, I'm looking forward to seeing the show filming on location in New York City. Fingers crossed!

vikeau said...

Sullie no such thing as coming late to the VDO party. Let's hope we get to see Vincent back on the small screen on a regular basis whether in "Blue Tilt" or another project--maybe a remake "Dr. Kildere" or that other doctor show--the one, the name of which escapes me (started with "life, death. . . infinity). I know one of you will help me out with the name.

vikeau said...

Answered my own question the show was "Ben Casey" and it was actually a friend who made the suggestion. She said that the actor who played Ben Casey reminded her of VDO. I haven't seen the show in years but I do remember he was rather handsome.

toscler said...

Not to be THAT person, but just because someone has some criticism of Vincent doesn't mean they're jealous or a guy.
