Remembering those who served...
I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend. I've had quite the week with a downed cell phone tower, a power outage in my neighborhood, yardwork, extreme temperatures amongst other things. I will be catching up on all of your comments today. I'd like to express my gratitude to all those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom and our country. Two of my neighbors' sons, who lived right next door to each other and were friends and classmates, went to Vietnam...one came back and the other didn't. I'm sure everyone has been affected in some way by our past involvement and current involvement in various wars and conflicts. Any time I see a person in uniform, I walk up to them, shake their hand and say 'thank you'. A small gesture means so much. Thank you.

That is all things a person does not want to happen, hope you can relax today. One of my best friends lost her father in Vietnam, we were all little kids all playing outside and the news was given to her mother, things all changed that day. My son-in-law is a corpsman, has been in Afghanistan, and will be out of the military come August. Am thinking of all the families that have lost a loved one, either on the battle field or to suicide. And too all the soldiers who have come back either physically or mentally harmed, never to be the same again.
Happy Memorial Day Nantz!! Sounds like you've had some excitement w/ the power and cell issues! Was there a storm? It's gotten warm and toasty here as well.
You bring up a good point, Rose, the battle doesn't end on the field.
Neither one was caused by weather. I think the power outage might have been by an accident with a chainsaw since I heard some in the area. Never did find out though.
And of course a power outage in the bad heat has to be, at least once or twice a summer here. Nantz, the battle for some continues way after soldiers come home, statistics are not good for suicide, joblessness and homelessness. Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend.
Nantz, I hope you didn't wilt in this heat. I think I got a bit of a burn (on my foot, always forget to put sunscreen on my feet).
We should always remember those who have served. Even if we speak out to disagree with our government's choices-- we should always remember that those who serve are our sons and daugthers and deserve the respect due to someone who puts their life on the line in service to their country.
